West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice on Thursday announced that he is contesting Sen. Joe Manchin's seat next year, making him the third Republican in the primary after Rep. Alex Mooney and Trump-aligned coal miner Chris Rose.

“I want to tell you that tonight I am officially announcing my candidacy for United States Senate,” Justice said in his announcement at The Greenbrier. “The nation needs us as Republicans to win.".

National Republican Senatorial Committee chair Sen. Steve Daines hailed Justice's bid. “Jim Justice is a proven winner whose record of creating jobs, cutting taxes, and fighting for conservative values has made him one of the most popular governors in the country.”.
